LAHORE: The Punjab government will introduce reforms at the jails in consultation with the renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel.
This was stated by provincial jail minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan after a meeting with Maulana Tariq Jameel.
During the meeting, the provincial minister said that the flexible policies on prisoners’ release on parole, mercy appeal and meeting with family members were among the government’s top priorities.
Maulana Tariq Jameel apprised the provincial minister about the rights of prisoners and duties of a state in Islam.
On the occasion, Chohan inquired about the health of Maulana Tariq Jameel.
