ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday said that he is ready to scrutinise all cases handed over to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and doors of the court were opened for anyone who is facing reservations over FIA actions.
While addressing press conference in Islamabad, Chaudhry Nisar said that he has made maximum efforts to bring betterment in FIA besides making it an institution free from political interference during last 2.5 years.
He clarified that the government has always supported democracy and independent judiciary in the country. He complained that FIA had been used for political motives in previous tenures.
Nisar claimed that the Pakistan is the only Islamic country where corruption was made in Hajj and Umrah campaigns during previous governments. He said that the investigation was ordered at that time by the Supreme Court (SC) but not by me.
The Interior Minister said that many renowned political personalities were found involved in different scams including his own friends.
He offered opposition political parties for briefing over major scams in order to prove it as impartial moves of the authorities.
While answering a question, Nisar claimed that no tensions were present between the government and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was of his view while warning NAB over receiving complains of some businessmen for being threatened by the NAB officials. He clarified that the government was not in favour to curtail NAB powers except reformations in its mechanism.
While answering another question, Nisar said that the offer regarding scrutinising of different FIA cases was not conditional with return of former president Asif Ali Zardari to Pakistan.
Regarding Pathankot airbase attack, Nisar detailed that Pakistan has registered a First Investigation Report (FIR) as yet over provided telephone numbers by the Indian government while the thorough investigation will be started soon after collecting telephonic conversation data from the service providers.
