Rangers powers issue to be resolved, assures Murad

KARACHI:  Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali has said that over Rs49 billion of development budget has been released which is record in the history of Sindh. “This shows that how much attention I am giving to development.”

This he said while talking to media just after offering fateha at Mazar-i-Quaid along with his cabinet members sworn in a little before at Governor House today.

He said that he had announced his priorities on the floor of the house in his first speech just after taking vote of confidence for the slot chief minister. The priorities are the same, best law and order, good education, and best health services.

To a question, he lauded the services and sacrifices of Rangers and said that still he had not seen the file of Rangers powers. “Let me see their file and I would take decision – they are working with us and for us,” he said and condemned attack on Rangers in Larkana.

He said that he had directed the IGP to arrest the terrorists of Rangers incident in Larkana. “I want to see the terrorists behind the bars – police action must be very much visbile,” he said.

Replying to another question, he said that the new cabinet would perform well. “We all as a team would deliver, I assure to the people of Sindh and also thank them for supporting PPP,” he said.

Earlier, presiding over a meeting of secretaries and heads of government departments at CM House chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah gave his policy line, which include good governance, rule of law, merit-based transfer and postings and public-welfare oriented policies.

In his opening remarks, the chief minister said that the secretaries and heads of departments are his arms and eyes. “You have to implement the government policies and make the successful in terms of completing development projects in time and with best quality,” he said and added that he would not compromise on quality and lethargy.

The chief minister said that his top most priority is `right man for right job- this means there would be merit in each and everything.  “You {secretaries and head of departments” are most experienced bureaucrats, I know kow most of you from the last eight years, ever since I have joined politics. Most of you have worked with me and I know you are best officers, therefore I am expecting your helping hand in reduction of poverty and unemployment,  providing best education and health services.

He said people of Sindh have always supported Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and “this is the time when Almighty Allah has given me the opportunity it become my main responsibility to pay them in the same coins by give them safe and secure Sindh, good education, best health services- for which you support is very important,” he said and urged them to be take care of `my people means people of Sindh.”

Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the office timings starts from 9 am, therefore everyone must ensure to be in office in time. “I won’t visit offices to check your attendance but it doesn’t mean that I would tolerate absence and late coming,” he said categorically.

The chief minister said that the development portfolio in the new budget was Rs200 billion. “I want you to be custodian of each and every penny allocated for development schemes and use them in the best interest of the people and province of Sindh,” he said and added that he would personally focus on utilisation of funds in transparent manner.

The chief secretary felicitating Syed Murad Ali Shah for taking over as chief minister assured him that his team, bureaucrats, would prove to be his best team by delivering in every sector. The secretaries who spoke on the occasion include Syed Mumtaz Shah, senior Member Board of Revenue Rizwan Memon, ACS (Dev) Mohammad Waseem and others.

This morning Sindh Chief Minister arrived in the CM House at 9am as he had announced a day before. On his arrival he was given guard of honor by Sindh police.

Sindh chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah just after his arrival held a meeting with chief secretary and IGP AD Khwaja. The chief secretary briefed the chief minister on over all governance while the IG Mr Khwaja gave a detailed account of law and order situation in the presence.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited his predecessor Syed Qaim Ali Shah at his residence at DHA and had a luncheon-meeting the former had hosted for him. Chief Secretary Siddique Memon and Principal Secretary Alamuddin Bullo were also accompanied by him.
