Pakistan Railways will run special trains on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr across the country in a bid to extend maximum facilities to passengers so that they can spend the Islamic festival with their near and dear ones.
“The decision regarding the number of special trains will be taken in the high rank meeting which will be held during this week,” official sources in the Ministry of Railways told APP on Tuesday.
They said that special Eid trains will run from Karachi, Quetta, Rawalpindi and Multan while additional bogies will be attached with trains to accommodate maximum passengers.
The sources said that online booking facility will also be made available for Eid special trains and the final schedule will be issued soon.
They said that Pakistan Railways would also ply a special Eid train ‘Thal Express’ from Rawalpindi to Multan via Kundian and Mianwali.
“A comprehensive advertisement campaign of Pakistan Railways is being launched to make passengers aware about the special trains on Eid-ul-Fitr,” the sources added.
Pakistan Railways, they said, had called for several steps to facilitate the passengers as railways were a cheaper mode of conveyance for the public.
The sources said that additional police personnel have been deployed at Railway Station and with special trains to keep security situation in check and avoid any incident.
They said that Pakistan Railways had already announced 30 percent discount on railway fares to facilitate passengers on first and second day of Eid-ul-Fitr.
