QUETTA: Speaker, Balochistan Assembly, Ms. Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani has assumed charge as first ever women Acting Governor of Balochistan after Governor Balochistan, Muhammad Khan Achakzai left for China on an official visit.
Meanwhile, officials in the Governor House said that Provincial Ministers and different delegations called on the Acting Governor Durrani at Governor House, here on Tuesday. The dignitaries who called on her among them were Provincial Minister for Education, Abdul Raheem Ziaratwal and Provincial Minister for Revenue, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhel, MPAs-Tahir Mehmood, Masooma Hayat and Husan Bano Rakhshani, Provincial Secretary Finance, Capt. (retd) Akbar Hussain Durrani, ex-mayor Quetta, Abdul Raheem Kakar, civil society representatives- Amjad Rasheed and Agha Jan Hamdard.
Talking to them, the Acting Governor Balochistan said that all stakeholders would have to play their due role for promotion of education as saying only education was key to success and development and to meet challenges of modern world.
She emphasized the need to make local government institutions completely functional and active. Local bodies representatives have their important role in resolution of civic issues and problems of citizens on their doorstep, she said.
