ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday approved renaming the National Centre for Physics at the Quaid-e-Azam University after Nobel Laureate Dr Abdus Salam.
Its new name will Professor Abdus Salam Centre for Physics after the Pakistani scientists who received the Nobel prize in 1979.
The prime minister has directed the education minister to get a summary approved by the president.
Apart from this the prime minister has also approved a fellowship programme under his name. Dr Abdus Salam Fellowship programme will offer PhDs to five fellows in the field of physics annually.
