NOWSHERA: The third death anniversary of former Jamaat-i-Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed is being observed at his native Ziarat Kaka Sahib village here today (Wednesday).
“Provincial Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan will be the chief guest at the ceremony which will be attended by a large number of party workers, relatives, friends and well-wishers,” Yasir Ijaz, JI district deputy secretary general said.
A Quran Khwani was arranged by party’s district leader Anwarul Islam on Tuesday attended by local officer-bearers, including Asif Luqman Qazi, son of the late leader.
Qazi Hussain was born in 1938 in Ziarat Kaka Sahib village, 10km from here. After graduation from the historic Islamia College Peshawar, he did his masters in geography from the University of Peshawar.
He joined Jahanzaib College, Saidu Sharif, Swat, as a lecturer but quit the job after three years and started taking active part in politics.
He joined the JI in 1970, became its general secretary in 1978 and led the party from 1987 till 2009.
