Qadri asks PM to ban Aurat March, observes Hijab Day on March 8

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Religious and Minority Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri has asked Prime Minister Imran Khan ban the Aurat March across the country.

In 2021, Aurat March caused outrage when banners and videos of protesters raising ‘objectionable slogans’ emerged on the social media. On the other hand, organizers termed the videos as doctored and anti-March propaganda.

In a letter written to the prime minister, Noorul Haq Qadri suggested that March 8 should be observed as “International Hijab Day” instead of Aurat March.

Qadri added that no one should be allowed to mock Islamic rituals, values, or the wearing of Hijab.
