LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday presented 1,447.2 billion rupees budget for the fiscal year 2015-16 in the provincial Assembly.
Punjab Finance Minister Doctor Ayesha Ghaus Pasha presented the budget in the assembly. The Punjab has allocated 400 billion rupees for development works and 733 billion rupees for non-developmental expenditure.
The finance minister said that government had increased 7.5 percent in salaries and pensions. He said that minimum salary of a worker would be 13,000 rupees in the province.
Doctor Aysha said that the government had allocated 27 percent of the total budget for education sector.
She said that the government had allocated 166 billion rupees for health, 117 billion rupees for rural development, 105 billion rupees for expenditure on construction of roads and bridges, and 87 billion rupees for the provincial police department.
