LAHORE: Punjab government has ended up coal power electricity project near Bambawali-Ravi-Bedian (BRB) Canal in Lahore.
Lahore High Court (LHC) conducted hearing regarding pleas against the coal power project near BRB Canal where complainant stated that the provincial government cannot opened such project that could create difficulties to the local citizens.
The complainant said that Punjab government has started activities for construction of the coal power plant near BRB Canal while land purchases also commenced in this connection but the moves neglected rights of the citizens.
During the hearing, Additional Advocate General Punjab told LHC that Punjab government has taken back notification for the project citing risks of the environmental pollution and various other issues. Following the government stance, LHC dissolved all pleas regarding the case.
It should be mentioned that construction of the coal power project was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) due to its hazardous outcomes.
