Lahore: The minimum support price for per 40 kilograms of wheat has been fixed at Rs1,800 in Punjab.
Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the wheat procurement target had been fixed at five million metric tons for this season. Provision of gunny bags to the farmers will start from April 1. The gunny bags may be collected from the offices of food department, she added. Permission will be required from the centre in charge for getting 500 bags whereas for 1,000 bags an approval will be sought from the director food.
Ashiq Awan said the farmers had not been paid their remuneration in time in the past. PTI-led government has paid money for the crops purchased during the PML-N era.
