ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf party filed a petition in the Supreme Court against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday, demanding Sharif and his family’s names be placed on the exit control list.
The petition claimed that billions of rupees had been sent abroad, which belonged to the people of Pakistan, through illegal means. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members have been made a party in the case. The petition claimed that the issue of Panama Leaks was for the benefit of the whole nation and was in the interest of the masses.
The petition claimed that national wealth had been transferred abroad illegally, through which off-shore companies had been established. The intervention of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the investigation of the Panama Leaks was important, stated the petition. PTI’s petition also claimed that regarding off-shore companies, there was conflict in the statements of PM Sharif and his children.
The petition filed stated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had claimed at the parliament that he had bought a property in London in 2005 when actually it was between 1993-1996 when he had purchased it. Documents pertaining to the Prime Minister’s property were also attached with the petition.
It was also written in the petition that PM Nawaz had declared Maryam Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz as dependents before the 2013 elections. The petition questioned that if the properties were owned by Maryam Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz, then why wasn’t it declared in the assets list?
PTI representative Naeem Bokhari spoke on the issue and stated that the petition would be sent to the Registrar of the Supreme Court. Naeem Bukhari questioned that if the steel mill was sold for Rs 9 million dollars, then why wasn’t anyone told about this? He said that the whole case was centered around PM Nawaz’s speech on May 16.
Naeem Bukhari also revealed that PTI chief Imran Khan would lead a rally from Shahdara to Lahore on September 3.
