Preparations for Haripur by-elections finalised

HARIPUR: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday have made all security preparations for the upcoming local government (LG) by-elections in Haripur which is due on Jan 23.

This was stated by the district Election Commissioner Haripur Naeem Khan while giving the polling stations details. He said election commission has established 28 polling stations, where 13 have been declared most sensitive, 4 sensitive and 13 normal.

He said that by polls would be conducted on 8 Village Council’s and one Union Councils including Motian, Mohri Malian, Nilor, Parba, Kandi, Mothdal,Motian, and UC Sari Saleh. We have made all security arrangements for the elections, he added.

Section 144 is also imosed on flaunting of arms and aerial firing till by-elections, the measure was taken with a view to protect precious human lives and avoid any untoward situation during elections, Naeem Khan said.

31502 voters would exercise their right of vote including 17570 male and 13932 female voters. 28 presiding officers, 84 Assistant presiding officers, 68 polling officers would perform duties to conduct the free and fair elections.
