RAWALPINDI: Punjab Revenue Authority(PRA) Rawalpindi has decided to start a grand scale operation against industrialist and businessmen for the recovery of sales Tax while the last date for the property tax is 31st October, 2015.
In this concern notices have been issued to Restaurants, Marriages Halls, Auto Dealers, Hotels, Property, Motors, Construction Companies, Auto Mechanics, Cable Operators, Saloons, Tailors, Call Centers and other businesses in Rawalpindi Division which includes Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum Districts territories.
PRA says that the sales tax is not duly paid by majority of people doing businesses in the above mentioned area. It said that while a large number of them are not registered with the authority, others hide a huge volume of the due taxes. As such a comprehensive plan has been chalked out to take action against the unregistered businesses as well as those who are filing return far below their income. The Authority estimated that there are in all fifty eight businesses which would be thoroughly scrutinized including their expenses and compare them with the sales tax they deposit.
Sources privy to the information said that a grand operation would be launched once the last date expires and their would be no exemptions on the basis of their links with the high ups in the government and political circles.
In the first phase operation would be launched against the un registered businesses including Hotels, Marriage Halls, Beauty Parlors and Designers while in second phase Cable Operators and Call Centers, construction Companies and Auto dealers will be included.
