LAHORE: The Pakistan Railways is launching electronic ticketing system from Monday to facilitate the passengers.
According to the PR sources on Sunday, PR Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique will inaugurate the system in a ceremony to be held here at PR headquarters.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Railways trains are a popular source of travelling and thousands ofpassengers travel from all over the country, every day.
After the inauguration, the passengers will be able to pay for their tickets online via credit/debit cards, online bank transfers or micro transactions like UBL Omni, Easy paisa or Mobicash.
With the launch of digital ticketing system, passengers will be able to book and pay for tickets from the comfort of their home by using computers or mobile phones.
Moreover, the digital system will increase the seat capitalization for the railways and decrease chances of corruption.
Everything will be handled electronically so tickets can be booked quickly and efficiently with nil human interaction.
Thus, the likelihood of railway officials charging extra premium in rural or distant railway stations will be virtually zero.
