KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is all set to emerge victorious in the upcoming local government elections in Karachi and Hyderabad, in the same manner, the PPP has secured a landslide victory in the first phase of the municipal polls in the rural parts of Sindh.

This was stated by Sindh Minister for Labour and Human Resources, Saeed Ghani, on Thursday as he met at his office dozens of local leaders and activists of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from different union committees of District Korangi as they announced joining the PPP.

Saeed Ghani said on the occasion that the PPP was the only political party in the country that had never come into power through the backdoor as it had always formed the government on the basis of the people’s mandate.

He acknowledged on the occasion that there were numerous public issues in the city but the ruling PPP had been doing its best to resolve them in the shortest possible time.

Ghani, who is President of PPP Karachi’s chapter, said that people knew very well the elements who in the past had used undemocratic means to come into power.

He mentioned that the people of Sindh had rejected the anti-PPP opposition parties in the local government elections held in the first phase in areas of Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Nawabshah.

He expressed optimism that the People’s Party would emerge victorious in the same manner in the second phase of the local government elections to be held in Karachi, Hyderabad, and other areas of the province.

He said the next elected mayor of Karachi would belong to the PPP.

Earlier, a former UC Vice-Chairman in District East of the city, Sartaj Khattak, who is a founding member of the PTI, met Saeed Ghani and announced his joining the PPP unconditionally along with his political associates.

Khattak acknowledged on the occasion that the PPP was the only political party, which was the true representative of the people of the country.

He conceded that the PTI during its stint in power during the past three-half-years had failed to do public service.

Ghani said the PPP’s Sindh government had been carrying out numerous development works in all the UCs of the District East.
