LAHORE: Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique Friday said Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will be responsible for any delay in the general elections as it was delaying approval of the constitutional amendment in Senate.

Talking to the media outside the residence of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here, he said the Pakistan Muslim League-N would continue calling PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari for the sake of democracy.

He said demarcation of new constituencies would be delayed if the constitutional amendment was not approved on time.

“We will continue exposing Zardari until he changes his decision on the amendment as we do not want any support for the party,” the minister said and added: “It is a national issue.”

He said that all political parties, including the PML-N, were interested in on-time elections and the people should be given right to vote to decide their fate.

He said that decision of the party leadership was taken by workers and in-camera political decisions would never be acceptable in political parties.
