PPP, MQM responsible of prevailing water crises in Karachi: Hafiz Naeem

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chapter Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has held provincial government and its allies responsible of prevailing water crises in metropolis.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Hafiz Naeem expressed deep concern over water shortage in different areas adding that the scarcity of water is not being produced in a day, but previous coalition partners PPP and MQM are responsible for prevailing water shortage.

He questioned that why the MQM leadership was not taking effective measures in eliminating water shortage in its previous tenure when it was a coalition partner of PPP led government.

Hafiz Naeem further asked the MQM and PPP leadership that why the previous provincial government did not start working on K-4 water project which was initiated by former City Nazim Niamatullah Khan in his tenure.

He alleged that the MQM was involved in running illegal hydrants and indiscriminate distribution of water in its tenure adding that the people of Karachi were facing water shortage despite the fact that MQM affiliated officers were served as KWSB chief and KMC administrator.

Hafiz Naeem demanded to the authorities concerned to implement on K-4 water project immediately, so that the water scarcity could be eliminated.

He further demanded to unveil the real culprits who behind the artificial shortage of water.
