LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former President of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Qasim Zia has been arrested and handed over on 14-day physical remand after a late night action by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Qasim Zia is accused in corruption of billions via a fraudulent scheme which led NAB to arrest him over back-to-back complaints made by the citizens.

NAB sources said that Qasim Zia established a fake company named as Ali Usman Securities that promised citizens to return their investment with hefty profits via trading in stock markets. However, the investors neither received the promised amount since last 1.5 years nor their investments.

The sources added that the late night action was carried out over more than seven complaints made by the citizens in this connection.

However, Zia was brought before the accountability court that handed him over on 14-day physical remand and directed investigation officers to file complete report.
