KARACHI: People’s Party has held an important meeting with MQM leaders to stop the dit-in in Karachi.
According to a local TV, Pakistan People’s Party started efforts to stop MQM’s sit-in at Fawara Chowk in city on Sunday. In which various issues were discussed.
Sources say that PPP leaders asked for time on the demands of MQM-P. MQM Pakistan Senior Deputy Convenor Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Sattar, Aminul Haq and Khawaja Izharul Hasan were present in the meeting. Wazir Nasir Hussain Shah, Murtaza Wahab and Saeed Ghani were also present.
During the meeting, the MQM-P expressed reservations about adding 53 UCs in Karachi and adding rural areas to urban areas in Hyderabad. They said that 53 UCs should be added and the UCs of rural areas should be abolished from Hyderabad.
Sources say that the PPP has sought time from the MQM leadership for a response. The PPP will respond to the demand of Muttahida tomorrow by informing its top leadership, while the MQM Pakistan is committed to hold sit-in tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has advised the People’s Party not to participate in the by-elections.
According to the sources, there was a virtual meeting of the PDM leaders with the leadership of the PPP, in which the PDM leaders suggested that the PPP should not participate in the by-elections.
According to the sources, a meeting of the parliamentary board consisting of senior PPP leaders was held under the chairmanship of Chairman People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in which the proposal of PDM was discussed.
Sources say that in the meeting different opinions were expressed on the proposal of not participating in the by-elections, People’s Party decided to proceed with the consultation to participate in the by-elections or not.
According to PPP sources, the final decision on PPP’s non-participation in the by-elections will be taken later.
