DUBAI: The leadership of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has decided to reshuffle Sindh Cabinet to get rid of some corruption-tainted provincial ministers.
The decision was taken at a second high-level meeting of PPP in a week. The meeting was jointly chaired by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai.
According to reports, the PPP bigwigs have decided to reshuffle the cabinet and to get rid of corrupt ministers as local bodies elections are drawing nearer.
Reports said several ministers may lose their portfolios that would be taken back gradually; adding that first phase of the reshuffle would start in a couple of days.
They said the ministers have been directed to show their utmost performance ahead of the local bodies elections, while a couple of others have been given a three-month deadline by Bilawal Bhutto. Major changing in Sindh bureaucracy is also likely as part of the reshuffle, reports said.
At the helm of Sindh affairs, PPP leadership is currently brainstorming the ‘new faces’ to run the provincial administration amidst changing situation in Sindh in the backdrop of Karachi operation and overall political scenario.
Reports said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is eager to jump-start into action with a fresh team.
The Dubai meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani, Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza, Information Minister Sharjeel Memo, Mazoor Wassan and others.
