ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has challenged the election of Chairman Senate in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Farooq H Naik filed a petition on behalf of Senate Chairman candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Senate election in which it was stated that 7 votes of Gilani were rejected illegally and therefore the rejection of votes should be declared null and void.

The petition seeks approval of the rejected votes of Yousuf Raza Gilani and declaration of him as Chairman Senate.

It should be noted that 7 votes of PDM candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani were rejected in the election of Chairman Senate, after which the Presiding Officer Syed Muzaffar Ali Shah declared the government candidate Sadiq Sanjarani successful in the election of Chairman Senate.
