ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif on Monday revealed that energy woes will not be eliminated even by the end of the present government’s tenure, a claim that was part of the ruling PMLN’s election manifesto.

In a written reply given before the national assembly, Khwaja Asif noted that in 2018 when the government’s tenure will come to an end the country’s energy demand will stand at 25,790 MW while the supply will stand at 18,034 MW translating into a shortfall of 7756 MW.

The minister also informed the national assembly that none of the 43 power generation companies are operating at 100 percent capacity.
