Pope Francis accepts PM’s invitation to visit Pakistan

Pope Francis accepted invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to pay a visit to Pakistan while meeting with delegation comprising high-ups of Pakistani government.

Pope Frances was formally invited by the Pakistani government as Minister for Ports and Shipping Senator Kamran Michael had an audience with the Pope of Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, in Vatican, local media reported.

Kamran Michael delivered the message of well wishes from Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and people of Pakistan to Pope.

The minister is in Vatican to invite the Pope to visit Pakistan on the behest of people and Government of Pakistan, likely by the end of this year, said a press release issued here on Wednesday.

The minister along with his delegation will also meet Secretary of the State Antoine A Miller and discus matters of mutual interest.

Kamran Michael said the visit would further cement the dialogue process between Pakistan and The Holy See.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yusuf is also included in the delegation.
