LG polls in Peshawar: Presiding officer, husband arrested for alleged rigging

MULTAN: The polling process in NA-153 Jalalpur Pir Wala began amid tight security here on Thursday morning.

As many as 379,963 registered voters would cast their votes till 5 pm.

According to sources from Election Commission, about 7329 police officials have been deputed for security duty at the polling stations. Exactly 276 polling stations have been setup in the constituency out of which 75 were sensitive.

It is pertinent to note that NA-153 constituency fell vacant following disqualification of Deewan Ashiq Hussain Bukhari by Supreme Court of Pakistan for fake degree of F.A.

A strong competition is expected between PML-N candidate Rana Qasim Noon and Malik Ghulam Abbas Khakhi, contesting on PTI ticket, whereas Pakistan Peoples’ Party has fielded Malik Akram Kunhon.
