Polling process us underway for the election of a new National Assembly Speaker at the Parliament House in Islamabad.
The election is being held through secret ballot. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif accompanied by the party’s members was the first to cast his vote.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Shafqat Mahmood of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are the two contenders for the NA Speaker seat.
All the main political parties, including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), as well as independent members from FATA have announced support for the PML-N candidate.
