PESHAWAR: People of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are casting their votes in much awaited Local Body (LB)elections in 24 districts of the province on Saturday (today).
The Polling for LB polls began at 8am and it will continue till 5pm.
According to the provincial Election Commission of KP the elections at Village and Neighbourhood Councils are being held on non-party basis whereas on party basis at Tehsil and District Council level.
As many as 84,420 candidates are in the field for 41,762 seats.
Around 11,211 polling stations have been set-up where more than 13 million registered voters are electing their representatives.Of whom 7,494,000 are male voters and 5,638,000 female voters.
Stringent security arrangements have been made for the elections.
For the election process, KP Ministry of Education announced holiday on May 29 and 30 in education institutions
