Political activities get pace in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD: Political activities are getting pace day by day by the political parties after the announcement of schedule of preparation of electoral rolls for coming general elections and some political parties have sought applications from the candidates for party tickets while all have constituted parliamentary board to finalize the candidates.

The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) had announced few days earlier, the schedule for preparation of electoral rolls and the process has been started from March 5 which would be completed by March 20 and final lists will be publicized on April 5 after objections and decisions of the revising authorities.

Four major political parties including Pakistan Muslim League (N), Pakistan People’s Party, All Jammu Kashmir Muslim conference (MC), and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has constituted  their Parliamentary Boards to award tickets to candidates.

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) has sought applications from its candidates for 41 AJK legislative Assembly seats fixing a deadline of March 17 to file applications with a fee of 30,000 rupees for each, said a spokesperson of the party.

The CEC has said that the polling date and schedule for filling of nomination papers would be announced after the completion of electoral rolls however, the elections are expected in the month of June, before the Holy month of Ramazan as the tenure of the present Assembly is going to expire in July this year.

The CEC has also imposed ban on the transfers and postings on key administrative posts in the government without his prior approval to ensure the electoral process free, fair and impartial.

The government has practically become function less after the initiation of electoral process however, different minister had started issuing notifications of future Development projects and some of minister were seen inaugurating these as a political propaganda to attract the masses.
