SWABI: A policeman was martyred and another injured in an exchange of fire between police and terrorists in Swabi, which left one terrorist dead while another blew himself up late Saturday night, officials said.
According to DPO Swabi Javed Iqbal, the terrorists targeted a police mobile in Swabi’s Minai area on Saturday night and fled. They were chased down and the ensuing exchange of fire left one of the perpetrators dead. Policeman Shah Fahad was martyred in the gunbattle.
Another terrorist blew himself up during the gun battle, while one of their accomplices managed to get away, the police official said. The blast resulted in a fire inside a shop in which the miscreants had taken refuge.
Police freed four people, including a minor, who were taken hostage by the terrorists.
Police also recovered a Kalashnikov, two hand grenades and ammunition scattered around the deceased.
