PESHAWAR: A policeman was martyred when armed robbers opened during a crackdown here on Wednesday. Culprits managed to flee.
A team of police on a tip-off regarding presence of criminals conducted an operation in Khazana locality of the provincial capital Peshawar. Upon sight of police, the robbers opened firing at police killing a cop. In retaliatory firing the culprits fled leaving behind arms and some other looted valuables with were confiscated by police.
The body of policeman killed in the encounter was shifted to hospital where it was handed over to heirs after postmortem.
