Police take 27 into custody during Lahore search operation

LAHORE: Police and Intelligence officials early Thursday morning took 27 alleged suspects into custody during a joint search operation near Walton airport, Naseerabad and surrounding areas.

According to sources, a heavy contingent of police was abruptly called in as well.

The operation included one Superintendent of Police (SP), two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) and Station House Officers (SHO) of five police stations along with a large number of officers.

The police was flanked by intelligence officials as well.

Officers checked the identification documents of residents, hotel guests and people residing in hostels. The id documents were also verified online from NADRA on the spot.

Sources say individuals taken into custody have been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. The search operation was started at 3:00 AM in the morning and continued for several hours.
