Police kill five suspects in Karachi raids

KARACHI: Five suspects were killed in targeted raids across Karachi, whereas five others were also taken into custody from different parts of the metropolis.

As per details, suspects opened fire on the arrival of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) at Korangi’s Mehran Town.

An exchange of fire took place between the police officers and the gunmen, after which three of the attackers were killed.

One of the attackers was arrested in a wounded condition.

Police said that the suspects were involved in more than 200 criminal offences including murder, attempted murder and robbery.

Two more suspects were gunned down in a police encounter near Mewa Shah graveyard. Weapons, hand grenades and a motorcycle were recovered from the slain suspects.

The law enforcement agencies nabbed two men, identified as Riaz and Daniyal, said to be working for an outlawed organisation from Defence Phase – II area. Ball bearing, detonators and a shotgun were recovered from the arrested persons.

A robber named Faizan, who had robbed ex-Sindh Assembly member Amanullah Mehsud, was arrested from Sharafi Goth area  whereas his two partners-in-crime managed to escape.

An activist of a political party was arrested by the Police from Shah Faisal Colony.
