Police harassing complainants in Kasur child abuse case: lawyer

KASUR: The victims’ lawyer in Kasur child abuse scandal told media on Saturday that the local police is harassing the complainants and victims in child abuse case.

Latif Sra, the lawyer in a press conference told journalists that the police is harassing the victims and pressurizing the complainants in the country’s biggest child abuse scandal citing fears that the victims may commit suicide if the situation persists.

He maintained that if the police does not change its behaviour, the victims will boycott the JIT formed to probe the scandal.

JIT orders victims’ medical test in Kasur child abuse case

The Joint Investigation Team formed to probe the horrific Kasur child abuse case on Saturday ordered medical tests of the sexual abuse victims.

The 10 abuse victims who have come forward will be shifted to DHQ hospital for the purpose.

Meanwhile sources have revealed that police has arrested another accused namley Ramzan alias Janan in the case.

Background

At least 280 children were filmed being sexually abused by a gang of 25 men who blackmailed their parents by threatening to leak the videos.

Children aged mostly under 14 were also forced to perform sex acts on each other in the more than 400 videos made in Hussain Khanwala village, southwest of Lahore, since 2007.
