KARACHI: 12 militants were killed in an alleged shootout with police in Karachi on Monday, authorities said.
The police encounter took place in Pipri area of the outskirts of Karachi. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in Pipri, where members of a banned terror outfit were hiding, SSP Rao Anwar told media persons.
The suspects opened fire on the police party, resulting in an exchange of fire. “12 terrorists have been killed in the shootout. Two policemen were also sustained injuries,” Anwar said.
The raid, he said, was conducted on the tip-off detained terrorists Naeem Bokhari and Musna.
