ISLAMABAD: Senior leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) terming the allegations of chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on national institutions as baseless, have blamed that the PTI chief was trying to create anarchy in the country through politics of agitation.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Chairman Privatization Commission and State Minister Muhammad Zubair, flanked by members of National Assembly (MNAs) Danyal Aziz and Talal Chaudhry said that the Ministry of Finance had written a letter to all its attached departments on April 29, to conduct inquiry into Panama papers in accordance with the law.
He said that there were around 7000 companies registered with Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) out of which record of 600 companies was checked. “Out of these 600 companies, name of 150 companies was found in Panama papers. The SECP checked whether any individual from these (150) companies has invested abroad, but it was found that no nobody did that,” he said.
Muhammad Zubair said Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had issued notices to all those individuals whose names appeared in Panama papers adding that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP had also accepted PTI’s case against Panama and had fixed dates for its hearing. “The Supreme Court of Pakistan has also accepted the application to hear the case. Thus, how can he (Imran Khan) claim that the institutions are not working?” he asked.
Challenging Imran Khan to prove when and where the institutions did not work for the implementation of law, Zubair said that we should encourage country’s institutions for their better performance.
Speaking on the occasion Danyal Aziz said that the whole opposition was divided on the issue of Panama papers. “Before filing an application in an institution to hear Panama case Imran Khan threatens its head”, he said. He said that PTI chief was blaming that ECP was being influenced by PML-N but the reality was that the whole ECP structure was formed in consultation with the PTI and other opposition parties.
He said that Imran Khan formed Accountability Commission in KPK but when it started to probe provincial ministers its heads were sacked. If Imran Khan is serious to eliminate corruption, he should start the process from home, he added. He said that no party was with Imran Khan in his decision to march towards Raiwind. Talal Khan on the occasion said that the country needed unity but the PTI chairman was attempting to create anarchy. “On the one side India is challenging us, while on the other side Imran Khan is trying to destabilize the country internally,” he added.
He said the motive behind PTI’s long march was to create unrest in the country as Sheikh Rashid had told Imran Khan twice in a meeting that they needed corpses to save their politics.
The Punjab government, he said would provide full security to the participant of Raiwind long march. He said that instead of coming into Parliament PTI leaders were coming out on streets for their personal interests. —APP
