LAHORE: PML-N has decided to approach the Lahore High Court for swearing in of newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz.

PML-N leader Atta Tarar said that the petition would be filed in the Lahore High Court tomorrow.

He said that Pervaiz Elahi and Governor Punjab want chaos in the province. If the governor does not want to administers oath then the federal government should appoint someone to this constitutional post.

It may be recalled that PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz was elected as the Chief Minister of Punjab in the recent election of the Chief Minister after a riot in the Punjab Assembly.

Pervaiz Elahi refused to accept the results while the Governor Punjab has postponed the swearing in ceremony.

Earlier, President Arif Alvi has directed Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema to continue in his post.

According to Geo News, the president has given a message that the governor of Punjab will continue to perform his duties till a decision is taken on the summary of his removal.

The federal government had decided to sack Punjab Governor Sarfraz Cheema, a summary of which was sent to the Presidency.

It should be noted that Omar Sarfraz Cheema was nominated as the Governor of Punjab by the PTI government this month after Chaudhry Sarwar.

Yesterday, former information minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry had claimed that President Dr Arif Alvi had denied removal of Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema from his post.

According to a local TV, he said this in a statement released on the social networking site ‘Twitter’ on Sunday.
