PML-N candidate wins NA-153 by-polls with big margin

MULTAN: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Rana Qasim Noon secured a convincng victory over PTI and PPP nominees in the NA-153 bye-elections in Jalalpur Pirwala tahsil of Multan district on Thursday.

Rana Qasim Noon secured 109,499 votes defeating his rivals by big margin of over 70,000 votes. His closest rival was PTI nominee Ghulam Abbas who could get only 34,451 votes while PPP’s Akram Kanu stood third with 31,354 votes,

Returning Officer Amir Ashfaq said that other candidates who were contesting the bye polls included Ashfaq Ahmad (ind) 610 votes, M Latif Ansar Lajpal (ind) 1716 votes,  Haji Muhammad Ibrahim (ind) 219 votes, Dewan Abbas (Retired) 277 votes, Dewan Muhammad  Bukhari (ind) 396 votes, Aslam Kanhu (ind) 2578 votes,  Muhammad Ramzan (ind) 767 votes, Nawab Muhammad Iqbal Tahri 2332 votes.

After announcement of unofficial results, the party workers started gathering at the resident of Rana Qasim Noon, the wining candidate of PML-N, to celebrate the victory.

A large number of PML-N voters and supporters celebrated the victory by distributed sweets. They were also chanting slogans in favour of their leader Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

The party workers said, the PML-N had won the by-election due to positive and people friendly policies of the government.

The PML-N workers and supporters also distributed sweets in Multan city and danced to celebrate the victory.
