LAHORE: President of the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkey Mehmet Gormez Monday called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here and discussed the ways to shun sectarian differences and promote religious harmony among Muslims.
During the meeting held here at the venue of International Seerat-un-Nabi Conference, the prime minister lauded the services of Mehmet Gormez for Muslim Ummah, said a PM House press release.
Both the sides were unanimous to believe that the solution tothe issues confronting Muslim world lied in true obedience of the teachings of the Islam and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The prime minister said Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah were facing the issue of terrorism.
Expressing his dismay over the sectarian differences among Muslims, Mehmet Gormez said it was unfortunate that different sects had built their own mosques everywhere across the world.
The two sides agreed that the promotion of religious harmony was inevitable to resolve the religious and worldly issues.
Prime Minister Sharif and Turkish cleric also stressed the need for a mechanism under which all sects and Muslim Ummah practice Islamic teachings in true spirit setting aside their differences what they believed would guarantee the success in the world and life hereafter.
