PM to leave for 3-day US visit today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with four top cabinet persons would leave for a three day official visit to the United States on the invitation of US President Barrack Obama.

The premier will reach US on Oct 20 after a one night stay in London today. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry will accompany the PM during the tour.

Office spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah has said the PM would meet the US President and will also have several other important engagements during the visit.

Nawaz will discuss Afghanistan situation, peace talks with Taliban and cooperation in civil nuclear technology with Obama.

The PM will brief the US President and the leadership on Pakistan’s policies for revival of economy, fight against terrorism and regional situation.

He will also hold discussions with them on bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, education, defence, counter-terrorism, health and climate change.

During his stay in the United States, PM Nawaz will also meet with chairman of House Foreign Affairs Committee, Senate Foreign Relations Committee members, have business interaction with Pakistan-US Business Council and US Chamber of Commerce and Industry and deliver a talk at the US Institute of Peace besides interaction with Pakistani community.
