PM Shehbaz fixes minimum wage at Rs25,000

ISLAMABAD: The newly elected Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif immediately gave relief to the nation and announced to raise the minimum monthly wage to Rs25,000.

In his first speech after being elected prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif said that he was giving immediate relief to the people to reduce the inflationary pressure exerted by the previous government to some extent.

Shehbaz announced that the salaries of federal government employees earning up to Rs100,000 were also being increased by 10 per cent.

In addition, the elected prime minister announced that the pension of retired employees will be increased by 10 per cent.

He said that all these things would be implemented immediately from April 1, 2022.

Shehbaz Sharif said that we will move forward with the four provinces together. We will re-launch the Benazir Card and are also expanding the Benazir Card. We will also link education with it and also distribute laptops.

Earlier, the National Assembly has elected PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif as the new Leader of the House, after which Shehbaz Sharif has been elected as the 23rd prime minister of Pakistan.

It may be recalled that Shehbaz Sharif from the joint opposition and Shah Mehmood Qureshi from the PTI were the prime ministerial candidates for the new Leader of the House.

However, after the boycott by the PTI, Shehbaz Sharif remained the sole candidate.

Shehbaz Sharif got 174 votes in the House after which he has been elected as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan. Shehbaz Sharif will take oath as the prime minister of Pakistan tonight.
