ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will leave for Uzbekistan on Tuesday to pay a two-day official visit focusing enhancement of cooperation in the sectors of energy, trade, culture, and tourism and people-to-people contacts and regional connectivity between brotherly countries.
During his stay in Tashkent, the Prime Minister would have meetings with President Islam Karimov, covering all aspects of bilateral ties. The leaders will also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
PM Sharif will be accompanied by a high-level delegation that include Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Adviser to the Prime Minster on National Security and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Aviation and other senior officials, Radio Pakistan reported.
The two countries share similar views on major regional and international issues and collaborate closely in multilateral forums including the United Nations (UN), Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), and Special Communications Organization (SCO).
The two leaders would also review the evolving regional peace and security scenario and discuss ways in which the two countries could work together and better coordinate to confront terrorist threats in the region.
