Despite escalating tensions on border areas between Pakistan and India, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif sent a box of mangoes as gift to the Indian PM Narendra Modi in a bid to normalise bilateral relations, Indian media reported on Wednesday.
Mangoes’ gift was sent amid ongoing border tensions on Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir and the working boundary near Sialkot while Pakistan had also accused India for sending spy drone in its territory.
According to Indian media report, an official told Hindustan Times on the condition of anonymity that ‘Mangoes were delivered to Modi through official channels even as Pakistan was accusing us of flying a drone into its airspace,’’
It is noteworthy to mention here that Pakistan and India constantly exchanged gunfire in the last week where four people were killed by the firing of Indian border security forces on civilian populations in the Pakistani territory in recent days while five more sustained injured by the unprovoked firing incidents.
The incidents have also raised question mark on the fate of crucial negotiations between the national security advisers of Pakistan and India as New Delhi reluctant to finalise schedule for the meeting.
