PM Nawaz meets British PM on CHOGM sidelines

VALLETTA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday held meeting with his British counterpart David Cameron on sidelines of 24th meeting of Commonwealth Heads of Government under the theme ‘Adding Global Value.’

International media reported that both premiers exchanged views on Pakistan-India bilateral dialogues and overall regional situation.

PM said that Pakistan wanted to hold precondition dialogues with India in order to resolve all issues.

During the meeting, PM Nawaz emphasised that Pakistan gave significant importance with the Commonwealth countries. He termed the United Kingdom (UK) as close and reliable ally of Pakistan.

While commenting over terrorism, PM Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan made prominent achievements in decreasing terrorism-related incidents during last two years.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had arrived in Malta to participate in the 24th meeting of Commonwealth Government Heads under the theme ‘Adding Global Value.’

He will discuss violent extremism and radicalism, sustainable development goals and migration.

The commonwealth heads will also take up issues related to climate change in a special session of the meeting.

During the meeting new Secretary General of CHOGM will also be elected for the next four-year term.
