PM Nawaz inaugurates IT initiatives, police station reception desks in Lahore

LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif inaugurated IT Initiatives and Police Station Reception Desks at the office of Inspector General Punjab Police in Lahore on Saturday.
Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif were also present on the occasion.
Later, addressing the inaugural ceremony of IT Initiatives and Police Station Reception Desks in Lahore, the Prime Minister stressed the need to continue capacity building and modernization of institutions.
He said institutions can become stronger only if there is no hurdles in the way of introducing reforms.
The Prime Minister appreciated the IT Initiatives and Police Receptions Desks introduced in Punjab Police.
However, he said a lot is still needed to improve the working of Police Stations to facilitate public.
He said provision of swift justice to the people is government’s primary responsibility and every measure is being taken in this regard.
Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the reforms introduced in Police system, to eliminate Thana culture.
He paid rich tributes to police personnel who presented sacrifices in war against terrorism.
Shahbaz Sharif said the Prime Minister’s package for the families of martyred police personnel is being implemented successfully.
He said Counter Terrorism Department was established in 2013 under the Prime Minister’s vision, which has played effective role in countering terrorism.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the efforts of Punjab Police for holding final of PSL in Lahore in a peaceful manner. —APP
