HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday visited Hyderabad and granted Rs1 billion rupees for the establishment of a university.
Speaking at the party’s workers convention, the prime minister said that the foundation stone of the varsity would be laid very soon. He also promised to build more educational institutes in the district and provide state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to the people.
The prime minister also announced a number of development projects for the district. He said that the Prime Minister’s Health Card programme will be launched in Hyderabad to support the poor segments of the district.
He said a survey will be conducted in the district and very soon the programme will be launched.
PM Nawaz announced to set up a new airport of international standard in the district, adding that metro bus service project will also be started in Hyderabad.
He announced 500 million rupees for the development of the district.
He said that previous governments had failed to establish a public university for the four-million strong population of the city.
The deteriorating condition of roads and a lack of healthcare facilities and clean drinking water for the masses are part of the many problems faced by the residents of Hyderabad.
Minister for Railways Saad Rafique and PM’s Special Assistant on Political Affairs Dr. Asif Kirmani accompanied the Prime Minister.
