PM inaugurates K-2 power plant at Kannup

KARACHI: Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated K-2 project of Karachi Nuclear Power Plant.

PM Nawaz addressing to the ceremony said the Nuclear Power Project vital for national progress.

Pakistan is grateful to Chinese cooperation in energy sector, Nawaz Sharif said.

He said that eradication of load shedding is among top most priorities of the government.

Inflation rate declining due to improved law and order situation in Karachi, he said and added that trust of foreign investors is also growing.

Nawaz further said that the first nuclear plant was set up in Chashma with Chinese help and both of its units will add 600MW to national grid.

He said glad to know that Chashma 3 and 4 nuclear units will start generating power next year.

Support by Chinese government is of key importance for Pakistan and K-2 project will strengthen friendship, Nawaz added.

On this occasion Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah were also present.

Earlier, PM Nawaz arrived in Karachi along with Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan and Chairman Board of Investment.
