PM inaugurates first ever solar energy project of Pakistan in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday inaugurated the first ever Solar Park in Bahawalpur.

The PM has inaugurated first unit of the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park and laid foundation stone of next phase of the project .

The pilot project will generate 100 megawatt electricity. Total capacity of the park is one thousand megawatt electricity.

The project has been complete in record period of 11 months and its foundation stone was laid by the premier and Chinese President in May 2014.

The first ever solar energy project was completed with the cooperation of the Chinese Government.

The first unit was completed with a cost of fifteen billion rupees in a short period of eleven months and all the expenses were beard by Punjab Government.

The electricity generated by the project will be added to the national grid through grid stations and power supply transmission lines.
