Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided to appoint prominent Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Iqbal Zafar Jhagra as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) governor.

A private channel quoting its sources reported that PM Nawaz has already discussed with the parliament house regarding Jhagra’s appointment as KPK governor.

The sources reported that the summary in this regard would be sent to the President Mamnoon Hussain in a few days.

But according to article 172 the governor’s vote should be registered in his ruling province.

Iqbal had registered his vote in Islamabad when he became a senator. However, he has now again registered his vote in KPK on the request of the PM.

It is pertinent to mention here that, former KPK governor Mehtab Abbasi had resigned from his post to take part in parliamentary politics.
