ISLAMABAD: Counsel of Prime Minister Nawaz has challenged jurisdiction of Election Commission of Pakistan in hearing of the petitions seeking disqualification of the PM.
As per details, the election commission heard the petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek against PM Sharif.
The references, filed by the four parties, state that Nawaz Sharif is not eligible to become the prime minister under the Article 62 and 63 of the constitution.
Article 62 and 63 of the constitution states that a person has to be Sadiq and Ameen (honest and truthful) in order to become the prime minister of the country.
The prime minister’s lawyer, in today’s arguments, challenged the jurisdiction of the commission in the hearing.
