Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has announced to observe ‘Qomi Azm Taleem’ (national educational resolve) day every year on December 16.
PM Nawaz addressing to a ceremony held to honour the martyred of Army Public School (APS) said days are not far when terrorism will be rooted out completely from our land.
Following the attack, the premier said, the military and civil leadership sat together. “It was then when I said desperate times call for desperate measures.”
Nawaz thanked the political leadership with whose cooperation the constitution was amended to set up military courts, and the National Action Plan was formulated.
In honour of the fallen souls, the Prime Minter has approved to rename 122 schools and colleges of the Islamabad Capital Territory after martyrs of Army Public School.
“I also announce setting up of Army Public University,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that, the first anniversary of brutal attack on Army Public School Peshawar is being observed in every nook and cranny of the country today with the firm resolve to completely root out terrorism.
The main function to mark the day was held at Army Public School in Peshawar. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief General Raheel Sharif attended the ceremony.
All the federal educational institutions are observing Martyrs of Army Public School Day, while public holiday has been declared in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Various organisations are holding functions including rallies, seminars, and symposia to pay homage to the martyrs.
Pakistanis living abroad are also observing the day and holding special functions.
